INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The awards by Ukhozi FM are aimed at acknowledging those individuals and / or groups in various walks of life that have made a meaningful and recognizable contribution to the lives of other individuals within their communities.
The awards are a special symbol by the station to acknowledge the role played by members and family of Ukhozi FM radio listeners in particular. Also the awards seek to honor and celebrate the lives and the hard work of the station’s employees both past and present.
The awards are also aimed at searching for men and women out there whose purpose and commitment in life is blessed with the desire and the commitment to enrich the lives of those that are less privileged, vulnerable and are in dire need of social caring.
The awards also focus on enabling in particular the listeners of Ukhozi FM a unique opportunity to identify and nominate those dedicated members of our various communities to be honored especially those working primarily in disadvantaged communities.
The project is known as Amaqhawe Okhozi FM Achiever Awards. The awards will be given to the members of the community who would satisfy the laid down criteria in fulfilling the above stated objectives.
The nominees are required to fulfill the following:
- Courage and determination in making a positive impact to the lives of the members of the community.
- Leadership qualities and a commitment to improving the community through their work.
- Consistency in carrying out the service the community.
- Demonstration of a creative approach to addressing the needs of the community.
Together with Isolezwe newspaper as its media partner, Ukhozi FM has formed a partnership whose main focus is to manage the process beginning with the nominations of Amaqhawe Okhozi FM Awards to the hosting of the event where the successful nominees will be honored.
