More about Mroza Buthelezi

Nonhlanhla Rhodesia Buthelezi, better known as Mroza was born in a small, rural village in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.
She started her early education at Dokodweni Primary School then joined Amatikulu Secondary and completed at Vukile High School at Maphumulo. In 1995 she was enrolled at the College of Education of South Africa (CESA) doing a Diploma in Teaching.

She faced a challenge when a lot of educators were retrenched and she involved herself in community projects and, at some stage she was a volunteer educator in one of the schools. She has always loved helping young people - she started a youth group called Dokodweni Coastal Development. She started this group to get rid of crime and to keep the youth off the streets. All the while, she dreamt of being on radio but never thought she would make it because there weren’t many opportunities in her village, and around her area.

The youth group was a stepping stone towards her dream, as the authorities in her area were impressed by her work that she was invited by a Love Life Organization to observe the activities (drama, music, dance, etc). Love Life hired her as a Groundbreaker (Young Dynamic People to work with the peers) where she joined Love Life Tours (Radio Units/ Mobile Studios) promoting positive messages in schools around the province. Her experience enabled her to get a job at a Community Radio Station at Eshowe called Icora FM in June 2000.

She hosted the Drive Home Show 15h00-18h00 Monday to Friday, she stretched her muscle and involved herself in promotions for the radio station until she became a Marketing Manager for the station (Icora FM). While she was busy sharpening her skills by attending radio training's she moved to SABC Radio, Ukhozi FM in August 2004.

Her future objectives are around the media and marketing industry. She is willing to initiate a TV talk show targeting people who have achieved and willing to develop other people’s minds through their personal experiences. She would also like to have her own youth clothing brand and expand her sights on radio.

She believes in her family, her son, her younger four brothers as well as her parents.
