More about Neliswa Cele

At only the age of ten years old, she became an award-winning radio presenter. Neliswa Cele is the youngest on-air personality at Ukhozi FM with fifteen years of radio experience, she considers radio to be a part of her DNA. One might laugh at the fact that, at a young age, people suggested that she be on radio because she was “such a talkative child”. this is now a memory that is now visited fondly.

Neliswa was awarded the “Best Presenter Award” as well as the “Best Overall Winner Award” in the 2008 SABC Community Radio Awards as an IKhwezi FM broadcaster. At the age of fifteen, she joined Ukhozi FM, hosting their SABC Education children’s show “State Your Mind”.

She now hosts the SABC Education show called Teenzone.

Most recently, she is excited to joining the Ukhozi FM TV team as the voice of the youth, where she is the co-host of the vodcast.

Neliswa’s contribution to the young people of South Africa was also honored by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2017.

Neliswa plays more than a presenting role at Ukhozi FM. 
Radio drama is something Neliswa has enjoyed doing from a young age, not only has she been able to showcase her acting skills on radio but also on television where she acted in the Telenovela ‘Durban Gen.’

Neliswa has maintained her radio career through primary school, high school, and university. 
She was able to complete her Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of KwaZulu Natal in the year 2020. She left her footprints at the University of KwaZulu Natal, where the university celebrated Neliswa’s impact through the UKZN Women Inspire Campaign in 2019.

On a more personal note, Neliswa is passionate about charity work and is involved with various charity organisations such as Imbumba Foundation, and various shelters for the homeless.

She is also an award-winning Afro-Latin dance instructor, which teaches and performs in various places in South Africa.
